For women going placesBellman8/22/08 Whenever I give a presentation on travel, someone always asks whether you should let the bellman accompany you to your room just after you check into a hotel. The old saying of "there is safety in numbers" is certainly true in this situation. Always accept an invitation to have someone accompany you when you first enter the room. Why? If someone is in the room that shouldn't be, you have a buffer between you and that someone. My answer is always the same: don't worry about being perceived as a helpless female, worry about your safety!
