I got into the hotel late last night. As I was walking to my room I was struck by the number of guests who place the room service card ordering breakfast on their room door handle the night before. Some hotels have gotten smarter and don't ask you to put your name on the card - I have never felt comfortable letting the whole world know I was a woman staying in the room alone. Although I occasionally do order room service breakfast the night before, if I'm traveling alone I make a point of indicating that the service should be for 2 people. While I get an extra set of silverware, at least I know I haven't announced that I'm alone to anyone who is interested and shouldn't be. When there is a knock on the door and I know it's my food, I always follow the steps outlined in the attached video.
